St. Patrick's Breastplate (and other hymns from the Celtic tradition)
Here we have an original presentation of an ancient Celtic Lorica, or Breastplate. This tape blends commentary, introduction, a new translation and new musical composition with a vocal recitation in two voices. The music (voice and harp) tries to serve the meaning and rhythm of the words.
The Hymns and Incantations from Carmina Gadelica were often sung or chanted in Gaelic by people of the Scottish Highlands and Islands as part of daily life. These musical settings for Harp and Voice, using Carmichael's spirit-filled translations, retain the simplicity and directness of a unique type of domestic liturgy. This tape is ideal for personal use, and may also be used in retreats, prayer and discussion groups. Click here for quotes on The Roads of Long Ago, or click here to order (ref EW003).
